Modernising Healthcare - NHS Scotland
Nutanix in NHS Scotland
I was delighted to be given the opportunity by the fantastic folks in the Scottish Nutanix team to present to potential other NHS customers at an event hosted in Edinburgh.
The Event Started off with Nutanix giving an update on the recent product announcements from .Next and what is coming up in the near future. Then it was over to me to present on how my healthboard started with nutanix, how the journey has been and where we are looking to go next.
Some of the points i touched on were as follows -
Why Nutanix ? - moving away from a legacy traditional 3 tier infrastructure stack, licences, support channels and much more feature rich.
Timeline - All started with a POC unit which was one Chassis with 4 nodes, allowed us to go through the foundation process and created a test cluster. We then purchased our own nodes and started our migration of VM's and Files (SMB & NFS). We then deployed NDB and now manange our DB's and SQL clusters.
I then mentioned that it is important to ensure network configurations (ports and config) are correct from the start to help avoid any issues. For us also we had a problem when not retaining the MAC Address in Move for some legacy applications.
Next Steps - We are going to be deploying a third cluster of 10 nodes (GPU enabled) and looking at NC2 for DR alongside NCM with self service orchestration.
My Manager then presented what we are doing with NAI as we have our own dedicated AI cluster running NKP. He gave an overview of some use cases and where this can unlock value for our organisation.
Massive thanks to the Scotland account team for arranging a great event, and it was good to share my experience with other potential customers within the NHS.
